HORN OF AFRICA
HORN OF AFRICA
The Horn of Africa faces some of the most complex and interconnected conflicts in the world, requiring innovative approaches to build sustainable peace. The Shaikh Group’s Horn of Africa programme seeks to foster inclusive political dialogue, address root causes of conflict, and support pathways towards stability across the region. Through discreet Track 1.5 initiatives, we aim to bridge the divide between formal political processes and the voices of marginalised and regional actors, creating opportunities for informal engagement and fostering trust.
Across the Horn of Africa, TSG remains committed
to connecting local perspectives with regional and international peacebuilding frameworks.
By integrating the voices of non-traditional and emergent actors into broader systems, we aim to support collaborative approaches to addressing the root causes of conflict and promoting resilience in the region.
Somalia
In Somalia,
TSG is engaging with stakeholders to facilitate dialogue on the country’s ongoing security transition and broader political processes, with a focus on fostering inclusive governance frameworks. Our work emphasises creating space for constructive dialogue that integrates regional perspectives, enhances coordination between Somali-led initiatives and international stakeholders, and supports Somalia’s long-term stability.
Sudan
In Sudan,
TSG is working to facilitate informal backchannel discussions between key actors in the ongoing conflict, while exploring the role of Track 2 consultations in paving the way for inclusive political solutions. We are also working to ensure that diverse perspectives, including those of women and civil society, are part of these efforts, helping to shape future pathways to peace and reconciliation.
